Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics of Gdańsk University of Technology executing the Project Center for Applications of Mathematics announces the recruitment of

3 foreign lecturers for the Conference “Between Theory and Applications: Mathematics in Action”

1. Date of lectures: within 16 -22 June 2013.

2. Place: to be announced  (Poland)

3. Total duration of lectures: 2× 45 min.

4. The scope of the conference are applications of mathematics to other sciences, biology, medicine and technology.

5. Requirements for candidates:

• PhD in mathematics or other sciences;
• scientific experience in the scope of the subject of the lectures,  documented by the list of publications;
• proposing an interesting topic of the lecturers, connected with the subject of the conference (theme of lectures + short description of the content,  at least 150 words).

6. Candidates should  submit the following documents:

• scientific CV (including  the list of publications);
• completed application form for lecturers (available below).

The documents should be send to: Politechnika Gdanska, Wydzial Fizyki Technicznej i Matematyki Stosowanej – Centrum Zastosowan Matematyki,  ul. G. Narutowicza 11/12, 80-233 Gdańsk, Poland.

7. The call is open from 29.03.2013. Application deadline: 22.04.2013  (till this day we shall receive candidate’s application).

8. The lecturer will be chosen by the Scientific Committee of the conference. The criteria will be candidate’s scientific experience (according to the CV and publications list)  and  the proposition of the subject matter for lectures (originality and matching the aims of the Project).

9. The lecturer is expected also to give individual consultations for the participants of the conference (in the total duration of 8 h) and preparing materials to be published on the web portal of the Center for Applications of Mathematics.

10. The lecturer will be awarded a scholarship/contract for the covering the costs of travel, insurance, preparing materials and giving lectures in the amount of 9 600 PLN (approximately 2200 Euro) minus  20% tax.  The accommodation for the stay in Poland will be provided by the organizers of the Center for Applications of Mathematics.

* a foreign lecturer is meant to be  a person who has been working for at least 5 years in a research facility located outside of Poland
